Students can choose to study Forensic Science in First Year and complete the course over three years. This course is a practical approach to forensic investigation, covering areas such as chemical detection, chromatography, ballistics, fingerprint analysis, DNA profiling, forensic entomology, forensic psychology and forensic anthropology.
The aim of this course is to enable learners to develop skills in using chemical, physical and biological techniques in the collection, analysis and reporting of forensic evidence. In Third Year, students will study a psychology module, considering proposed biological and social causes of criminality.
Learners will experience and develop their knowledge and skills first-hand by taking part in simulated crime scene investigations, from collecting the evidence, through the analysis and finally presenting their results in a variety of formats.
